BEVERLY HILLS, CA, April 2006 – Genlux, the premiere Los Angeles luxury fashion magazine, has named John Hartigan as its director of digital imaging & editing and Melissa Rodwell as its photo editor , it was announced today by founder and creative director, Stephen Kamifuji of Genlux.  Rodwell and Hartigan collaborated on the cover shoot and fashion editorial for the Spring, Summer. Fall 2006 and Spring 2007, issues of Genlux.

Hartigan has established himself as one of the most talented and versatile digital artists, and has worked for clients ranging from Fred Segal and Warner Records, to Panasonic and the U.S. Postal Service.  After graduating from Brooks Institute, Hartigan worked in the automotive photography business.  He was one of the first digital artists to embrace Photoshop and has distinguished himself as an expert with the program.


How long have you been involved in photography?
According to the IRS, I have been a photographer for 20+ years, but really it has been more like 36.

People say you were an early adopter of digital photography. How long has Hartigan photography been digital?
Digital experience now reaching the 17 year mark

Though the years what sort of adventures being a photographer brought you?
I taught photography for a short while.
As an authority on the coming age of digital photography I was a spokesman in a half hour intro to digital Photography for HBO.
For a few years I was a Lighting Designer / Cinematographer for video
I took a real job for a while as an on staff digital photographer for a major advertising agency in Southern California

My favorite is; I shot the Cover Photo and two editoral stories in a music gear mag (Fender Frontline) that holds the record for largest circulation / distribution of a single issue for a periodical of that genre.
